Where You'll Be Working
Tamworth Hospital is the major referral hospital for the New England region, providing high‐quality, comprehensive care across a broad range of medical and surgical services. Within the hospital, Surgical 1 & Surgical 2 host 57 beds, delivering patient‐centred care to a large and complex mix of patients, including trauma cases, elective orthopaedic procedures, and patients with multiple comorbidities. You'll be part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team including Clinical Nurse Educators, Consultants and Specialists, working together to provide seamless care across all stages of patient recovery. The wards operate on a 7‐day rotating roster with 12‐hour shifts, offering variety, professional challenge, and opportunities to develop broad clinical expertise in orthopaedic and surgical care. About The Role
In this role, you'll provide high‐quality, patient‐centred care, managing patients during the post‐operative and trauma recovery phases. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, your responsibilities include medication management, assisting with mobility and activities of daily living, wound care, and monitoring patient progress, while working closely with the team to achieve the best discharge outcomes and support long‐term recovery. You'll have the opportunity to develop advanced orthopaedic skills, including management of traction, spinal injuries, acute fractures, external fixators, and compartment syndrome. The role encourages autonomy in clinical practice, balanced with strong team collaboration. You will be empowered to contribute to patient care planning, engage in continuous improvement initiatives, and build confidence in handling complex surgical cases.
