Our Client, J.V MCKENZIE & S MCKENZIE, are seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality carpentry works across residential new builds and renovation projects. This role requires a strong background in domestic carpentry, with a focus on framing and structural work.
Responsibilities
* Studying drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and installation procedures
* Ordering and selecting timbers and other materials, and preparing layouts for construction work
* Cutting materials, and assembling and nailing cut and shaped parts accurately
* Erecting framework, panelised systems, and roof framing
* Laying sub-flooring and floorboards, and verifying the trueness and alignment of structures
* Installing fascia panels, roof sheathing, external wall cladding, and door and window frames
* Assembling prepared wood components to form structures and fittings ready for installation
* Cutting and forming wood joints as required
* Constructing concrete formwork where necessary
* Repairing and maintaining existing structures and fittings
* Working with a variety of materials including timber, plastic laminates, perspex, and metals
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised worksite at all times
* Supporting general construction and site activities as required
Requirements
* Qualified Carpenter (AQF Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent)
* Minimum 2 years post-apprenticeship experience
* At least one contactable employer reference
* Good English communication skills
* Strong ability to read and interpret plans and work independently
* Reliable, with a strong work ethic and good moral character
