Role
The core duties of the Assistant Coordinator (OSHCP) are listed below. Other duties may be required to be performed from time to time at the direction and discretion of the OSHCP Coordinator.
ROLE
To assist with the coordination of the Out of School Hours Care Program. The OSHCP Assistant Coordinator assists the OSHCP Coordinator to ensure that:
1. the quality of care provided for the children is of a high standard.
2. the service complies with the Children’s Services Regulations and the National Quality Framework for OSHCP and the relevant school policies and procedures.
3. the educational and recreational programs offered are undertaken in a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment for all children attending the program.
4. other OSHCP staff and volunteers are supervised.
5. the purchasing of food, drink and other consumables is completed in a timely manner and within the budget.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
In the absence of the coordinator, manage the day-to-day operations of the OSHCP program which includes responsibility for the supervision, direction and support of staff in the program.
T o assist the OSHCP co-ordinator with:
6. the day-to-day use of the Qikkids program to manage program bookings and receipts.
7. use of the Child Care Management System program to assist clients/families to access Centrelink payments.
8. coordinating the Active After School Care program.
9. fostering a team approach and ensure all staff are contributing to the maintenance of high program standards.
10. planning to develop a program of interesting and stimulating activities and events for primary school aged children.
11. promoting an environment where children, staff and parents feel comfortable and welcome. Encourage comment about the program.
12. providing a program which gives children opportunities to make choices and give them ownership of the program.
13. providing appropriate induction for new staff and students.
14. directing OSHCP staff about daily duties.
15. coordinating staff work schedules.
16. establishing and maintain strong lines of communication between all program users. Provide school web site administrator with up-to-date information at least once per term for inclusion on school web page.
17. maintaining confidentiality of all staff and families in the program.
18. providing a nutritious, enjoyable, and adequate breakfast and afternoon snack for all children.
19. ensuring all children are always supervised both indoors and outdoors.
20. coordinating the purchasing and issuing procedures as per school policy.
21. ensuring that adequate materials and equipment are available.
22. ensuring that materials are used safely and receive regular maintenance compliant with OH&S and DEECD requirements.
23. enforcing Mount Martha Primary School rules in accordance with school values, the Student Code of Conduct and other relevant policies eg SunSmart
24. undertaking relevant Professional Development.
25. processes for student safety eg. Sign in/out by parent/guardian, toileting procedures
26. creating and distributing OSHCP term newsletter
REPORTS
27. The Assistant Coordinator reports to the OSHCP Coordinator and Convenor of the OSHCP Sub Committee of School Council.

Location Profile
Mount Martha Primary School has serviced the Mount Martha community since opening in 1982. Our vision is to strive to empower students to be active learners who make a positive impact in a changing world. The school’s values of Knowledge, Respect, Integrity, and Collaboration are implemented daily to provide an excellent, high quality learning environment.
In 2023 the total enrolment is 612 students organized into twenty-seven classes from Prep to Year 6. Most students are enrolled from within the local neighbourhood area. The school’s Student Family Occupation and Education Index of indicated an overall high Socio-Economic profile. A small percentage of students came from a background where English is not the main language spoken at home.
In 2023 Mount Martha Primary School has Principal, Assistant Principal, teaching staff and Education Support Staff. This is a combination of fulltime and parttime staff. There are 5 specialist areas of Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Digital Technologies, and Japanese, three teachers working in Learning Boost Programs. The educational support staff working across office, classroom support, ICT support, grounds, and Out of School Hours Care. The school had Learning Specialists- English, Mathematics, Social and Emotional Learning and Digital Technologies. The staff profile is weighted toward the experienced range across both Teaching and Educational Support personnel, and they bring a variety of skills and attributes to the task of improving student outcomes.
The school enjoys excellent relationships with its own and the broader community. Mount Martha’s strong reputation in the community continues to be built on the success of its students in the academic, sporting and performing arts areas and co curricula program. Our parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s education by assisting in the classroom, on camps, excursions, and sporting events and through School Events Committee and School Council activities.
Over recent years the school has completed grounds and building improvements. In addition to DET funding, a focus for local community fundraising has been to continuously improve areas of the school for students. We have strived to provide play spaces and classrooms that are inviting and stimulating. Classrooms are a mix of flexible teaching spaces and more traditional classroom configurations with the specialist program taught in dedicated spaces.
Consistency of teaching practice, curriculum programs and assessment to monitor achievement and inform next steps in learning remained key approaches to meet individual student needs and improve learning. Our students continued to benefit from a learning environment which was calm and focused thereby allowing students to engage in their learning and to develop positive relationships.
Our school ensures the diverse needs of all students are catered for in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all activities. Student wellbeing and engagement continued to be enhanced by strategies including the "Respectful Relationships, Rights and Resilience Program, the “Protective Behaviours” programs and application of digital technologies.
Mount Martha Primary School 2019-2023 Strategic Plan goals improvement, strategies, and target have focused on improvement of Literacy and Numeracy outcomes for all students through consistency in teaching practice and improved student engagement. In 2021 we became a Professional Learning Community. This has support us with teacher collaboration, a more sophisticated use of assessment data to improve differentiation of individual student learning and a further enhancement of a positive climate for learning through improved feedback, activation of student voice and learner agency.
