Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency Department (Permanent, Full‑time)

Location: Calvary Mater Newcastle, Bar Beach, NSW, Australia.

Salary: $68.94 per hour + super + annual leave loading; incentive up to $2,000; relocation incentive by negotiation.

As the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) you will be responsible for coordinating clinical services and communication processes to ensure every patient on the unit receives the best possible care every single time. The role and responsibilities include day‑to‑day clinical operational management and governance within the Emergency Department, ensuring quality patient care delivery.

Selection Criteria (Essential)

- Registered Nurse authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and relevant postgraduate qualifications in clinical leadership or management, or willingness to undertake same.
- Demonstrated ability to apply and share skilled expertise in Critical Care / Emergency Department to ensure the delivery of high‑quality patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to build a cohesive, service‑focused team through coaching, mentoring and guiding team members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and overcome resistance when initiating and implementing change strategies within a team.
- Demonstrated focus on Service Excellence, evidenced by the ability to plan for and act on issues quickly, decisively, and effectively.
