About the Role
The School of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at Curtin University is seeking a passionate academic with proven research and teaching skills in Space and Planetary Science.
The role involves conducting independent research as part of the Space Science and Technology Centre (SSTC), developing high-quality teaching programmes for the new Bachelor of Science major in Space and Planetary Sciences, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
Responsibilities
Undertake world-class research, leading to research student completions, publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and successful grant applications.
Collaborate with colleagues within the SSTC to build a vibrant and sustainable research team.
Contribute to the organisation, planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching in the new Space & Planetary Science major.
Demonstrate best practices and innovative teaching methods that enhance the student experience.
Engage with the Planetary Science Discipline to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
Apply relevant health and safety standards, including supervisory responsibilities for practical classes and research students.
Promote the discipline within and outside the university through service, leadership roles and outreach activities.
Demonstrate university values of integrity, respect, courage, excellence and impact in all interactions.
Essential Criteria
PhD in Space and/or Planetary Sciences or a related discipline, and post-doctoral research and/or university or relevant industry experience.
Demonstrable track record of research funding success and high-quality publications.
Ability to undertake a unit coordination role (ALB).
Evidence of high-quality teaching coordination and a reflective approach to teaching delivery (ALC).
Potential to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects (ALB).
Record of graduate research supervision and conferral of Higher Degree by Research students (ALC).
High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and staff across cultures.
