About the role:
You will play a critical role in shaping Carinity's future footprint, leading master planning, concept and detailed design phases to ensure projects are strategically scoped, well-governed and ready for delivery. Acting as the internal client representative, you will bring together operational needs, regulatory requirements and contemporary service models to deliver high-quality, future-focused design outcomes. This role offers the chance to influence long-term asset strategy, embed innovative and sustainable design principles, and contribute to communities where people are genuinely supported to thrive.
Your day-to-day will involve:
* Lead master planning and design development across a diverse portfolio of capital works projects
* Translating strategic, operational and service delivery needs into clear project briefs and design outcomes
* Managing concept, schematic and detailed design phases to ensure quality, compliance and constructability
* Coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and driving collaboration across aged care, retirement living and education sectors
* Navigating planning approvals, regulatory requirements and risk management processes
* Overseeing project budgets, cost planning and financial performance during design phases
* Partnering with internal stakeholders, including frontline teams, to support co-design and operational readiness
* Embedding sustainability, accessibility, dementia-friendly and future-focused design principles
* Providing clear reporting, governance and insights to support informed decision-making
About you:
You are a strategic and commercially astute project leader who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You bring a strong design management background and enjoy translating big-picture strategy into practical, buildable solutions. You are equally comfortable leading technical conversations with consultants as you are engaging with operational leaders and executives. With a collaborative and values-led approach, you take pride in delivering projects that not only meet compliance and budget expectations but genuinely enhance the lives of the people who use them.
To be successful, you will have:
* A tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management
* Proven experience (7–10+ years) managing master planning and design development for large-scale capital works projects ($20M+)
* Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary consultant teams and managing professional service contracts
* Deep understanding of planning pathways, statutory approvals and regulatory frameworks (ideally within aged care, education)
* Well-developed skills in cost planning, scope control and risk management
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including executive-level interaction
* Strong reporting, governance and documentation capability
* Current driver's licence and willingness to obtain required clearances (NDIS / Police Check)
