About the Role
This is a 6-month contract (with extension options) supporting a key ASD capability project. You will work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, integrate, and document software solutions aligned with business requirements
* Maintain and enhance existing applications to ensure performance and availability
* Develop technical specifications from business requirements and functional models
* Ensure software quality and security through rigorous testing and code reviews
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and development practices
* Produce and maintain technical documentation
* Promote knowledge sharing within the team
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in Java development (C#/.NET or Python also considered)
* Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages
* Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments
* Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
* Experience with data modelling and performance tuning
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
* Experience using Git-based version control tools (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
* Exposure to secure cloud environments
* Experience working in IRAP or ISM compliant environments
Desirable Experience
* Background in Cyber Security or related domains
* Experience with automation and deployment tools
* Exposure to Hadoop / Apache Spark
* Linux and/or Windows system administration experience
Work Arrangement
* Location: Canberra, ACT
* Work Type: Onsite only
* Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Eligibility & Security Requirements
* Must be an Australian Citizen
* Must hold a current NV1 Security Clearance
* Willingness to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) within 12 months
* Ability to work hybrid in Canberra (ACT)
