About the role
We are currently looking for a Maternal & Child Health Nurse to join our team, working across 14 centres within our municipality, to provide comprehensive health service to the diverse communities within the Yarra Ranges.
Situated within the Family Children and Youth team, the Yarra Ranges Council Maternal Child Health service (MCH) is committed to meeting community needs through facilitation of a variety of focused programs, as well as developing and maintaining strong community partnerships by providing a flexible and responsive service to over 10,000 families with young children aged 0-6.
This is a Part Time Temporary Position (3 Days per week, until September 2026) with an Hourly rate from $58.34 per hour, plus $1.99 per hour Higher Qualifications Allowance, laundry allowance, and 12% superannuation.
As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse at Yarra Ranges Council, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering primary health care services to children and families.
- Providing vital health promotion and parenting information.
- Early identification of health concerns and timely intervention.
- Referring families to appropriate medical, allied health, community, and social support services.
- Using a strength-based, family partnership model to support and enhance the health and well-being of families.
What you’ll bring to our team
- Current Registration as Nurse (Division 1) and Midwife on the Register of Practitioners of AHPRA.
- Post Graduate Diploma or Degree in Child & Family Health Nursing enabling practice as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse in Victoria.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work professionally and respectively with families from diverse backgrounds, as well as agencies and health care providers.
- Knowledge and skills relevant to the provision of the Victorian Local Government Maternal and Child Health service.
- Experience in facilitating community education/health promotion programs for infants, young children and their families as per program standards.
- Demonstrated understanding of Child Information Sharing Schemes and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes, MARAM and Child Safe Standards.
- Skills in MS Office Suite and Child Development Information Systems (CDIS).
- Flexibility to work across different locations, where you will work independently and as part of a team.
