The Role – Café Manager
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our front-of-house team and ensure the smooth daily operation of Epoch Café. This hands-on leadership role requires a proactive professional who can manage staff, maintain high service standards, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management
* Oversee daily café operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient service flow.
* Maintain high presentation and cleanliness standards across all service areas.
* Monitor and control stock levels, ordering supplies through approved vendors.
* Liaise with kitchen, health & safety, and museum teams to ensure seamless coordination.
* Manage cash handling, banking, and reconciliation processes.
* Maintain and update POS systems, menu pricing, and specials.
People & Leadership
* Lead, train, and motivate the café team to deliver exceptional service.
* Prepare and manage staff rosters and approve timesheets.
* Recruit, onboard, and develop front-of-house team members.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive team culture.
Customer Experience
* Engage with customers to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
* Respond promptly and professionally to feedback or complaints.
* Ensure team members are knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and museum offerings.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in café or restaurant management.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards.
* Competency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting.
* A passion for local produce and high-quality hospitality.
