Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

The Opportunity
Join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW in a Teaching and Research role. In this role you will develop research in Electrical Engineering while teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in Systems and Control and joint courses with other Electrical Engineering disciplines. You will conduct classes, design learning activities, supervise HDR students and publish high‐quality research as part of a team and/or independently.
Role Details
* Salary: Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation; Senior Lecturer (Level C) – AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Employment type: Full‐time, Fixed term – 2‐year convertible tenure track (potential transition to continuing appointment, subject to performance)
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
* Reports to: Head of School (no direct reports)
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Systems and Control and related Electrical Engineering disciplines.
* Design and develop innovative learning activities and educational technologies.
* Supervise HDR students and provide high‐quality research supervision.
* Publish high‐impact research, both as part of a team and independently.
* Contribute to curriculum development, assessment and improvement of courses.
* Collaborate with industry partners and contribute to the School's research and innovation agenda.
Qualifications – Lecturer (Level B)
* A PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in Systems and Control, along with relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to keeping discipline knowledge and developments up to date.
* Experience and evidence in teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in Systems and Control, and across the broader field of Electrical Engineering.
* Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
* Demonstrated knowledge or experience of work‐integrated learning (desirable).
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Demonstrated track record in research with high‐quality, high‐impact outcomes and the capacity for research leadership.
* Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* High‐level communication skills and ability to network effectively.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Understanding and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attend relevant training.
Qualifications – Senior Lecturer (Level C)
* A PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in Systems and Control, along with relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to keeping discipline knowledge and developments up to date.
* Experience and evidence in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programmes, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness, passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
* Success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
* Experience with industry or work‐integrated learning.
* Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Track record in research with high‐quality, high‐impact outcomes and capacity for research leadership.
* Experience in recruiting and supervising high‐calibre students.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* Understanding and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, with relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attend relevant training.
