About the Opportunity
The Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is seeking to engage an experienced Manager, Rail Safety – Operations. The role is responsible for ensuring oversight for the safe and efficient operation of rail systems that support the end user by developing, implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and programs. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in rail operations and maintenance, as well as a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and best practices within the rail industry. The Manager, Rail Safety – Operations will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify potential safety risks, mitigate hazards, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
About You
Possess the ability to develop and implement a strategic approach to provide oversight and coordinated management of the SRL operational safety risks. This will include the custodian of SRLA’s identified Operational rail safety risks and monitor through to closure.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of rail operations, maintenance activities, and infrastructure to identify potential hazards and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and safety-related issues, ensuring that root causes are identified, corrective actions are implemented, and lessons learned are shared across the organization.
Collaborate with various internal departments, such as operations, maintenance, engineering, and training, to ensure consistent safety standards and practices are maintained throughout the organization.
Provide oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including guidance material published through Rail Industry Safety Standards Board and the Office of the Rail Safety Regulator.
