We are an established and busy backpacker hostel located in Hobart, Tasmania, catering to both domestic and international travellers. With a strong focus on guest experience and efficient operations, we are seeking a hands-on Accommodation Manager to support the day-to-day running of the business.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a key operational role responsible for overseeing daily hostel operations, supervising staff, and ensuring a high standard of guest service. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with proven hospitality supervisory or management experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations across reception, housekeeping, and guest services
* Supervise, roster, and support a small team of staff
* Monitor bookings, occupancy, and pricing to optimise performance
* Manage online booking systems and channel managers
* Handle escalated guest enquiries and resolve issues professionally
* Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, and training
* Support budgeting, cost control, and operational reporting
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements
* Maintain and improve operational procedures and service standards
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a hospitality supervisory or management role
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills
* Experience with accommodation booking systems and online travel agents
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
* Knowledge of hostel, hotel, or accommodation operations

Pay: $65,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year
