Employment type: Temporary – 12 months opportunity

Salary: Clerk Grade 5/6 - $ 99,938.00 - $ 110,271.00pa

Join the Workers Compensation, Safety and Wellbeing team within the People Directorate at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). In this role, you'll play a critical part in supporting injured workers to recover at work through best-practice injury management, claims coordination and return-to-work programs.

You'll work closely with employees, managers and external providers to deliver compassionate, practical and compliant injury management solutions that balance individual recovery with business needs.

Your role

As an Injury Management Officer, you will develop and deliver effective injury and claims management and return-to-work programs that support injured workers to safely and sustainably return to work.

You'll manage a diverse caseload across DCJ, providing expert advice, education and coordination to ensure positive outcomes for employees while supporting the Department's legislative and policy obligations.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

* Deliver injury management services, including tailored return-to-work programs, to achieve positive recovery outcomes and cost-effective claim management
* Manage workers compensation claims and coordinate recovery at work plans and injury prevention strategies
* Provide advice and facilitate referrals for independent medical assessments with workers compensation and WHS implications
* Support and educate managers and staff across DCJ on legislation, policies, procedures and best-practice injury management approaches
* Consult, negotiate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective injury management and return-to-work outcomes
* Maintain accurate, confidential and compliant case files and records in line with legislative and policy requirements

You'll work as part of a collaborative team of Injury Management Officers in a flexible, hybrid working environment.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Essential Requirements

* Tertiary qualifications in a therapeutic or nursing discipline, or equivalent extensive injury management experience
* A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to provide face-to-face support where required

You'll also demonstrate

* Sound knowledge of NSW workers compensation legislation and policy
* Experience in injury management, return-to-work coordination or claims case management
* A genuine commitment to recovery at work and supporting injured workers through complex processes
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to have respectful and courageous conversations
* The ability to build effective relationships with managers, employees and service providers
