About Governance & Risk
The Governance and Risk Division promotes and protects QIMR Berghofer's interests by enabling and ensuring effective governance, enterprise risk management, compliance, and management assurance across the Institute. The Division also includes the Project Management Office (PMO), which provides project governance, project delivery, and delivery support for key organisational initiatives. Together, we support informed decision-making, effective project outcomes, and the achievement of the Institute's strategic objectives.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities
QIMR Berghofer is seeking a skilled Business Analyst to join our risk & Governance Department to work across a program of exciting enterprise projects. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology/process solutions, ensuring our systems and processes meet the needs of our researchers and support staff. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance operational efficiency and deliver essential applications to our researchers and support staff.
About You
The Business Analyst will work across technology, research and operational areas, acting as a key conduit for process optimisation across multiple related projects delivered concurrently. The role will support initiatives from Discovery and Initiation through to Implementation and requires demonstrated experience in software procurement, requirements definition and organisation-wide system implementations. The position plays a pivotal role in strengthening research governance and operational effectiveness through the delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions.
The role is responsible for eliciting, analysing and documenting business and technical requirements, facilitating workshops, modelling business processes and conducting gap analyses against existing systems. Working both independently and in partnership with project managers, IT subject matter experts and vendors, the Business Analyst will clearly articulate the value of proposed changes by translating benefits, costs and impacts into business-focused language that supports informed decision-making and leadership approval.
Strong stakeholder engagement, planning and influencing skills are essential. The successful candidate will identify and prioritise opportunities for business process improvement, manage competing priorities, assess change impacts and support effective organisational change. The role requires the ability to adapt communication styles for diverse audiences, facilitate decision-making, negotiate trade-offs within organisational constraints and balance empathy with assertiveness to achieve successful outcomes.
Remuneration & How to Apply
Remuneration: Salary range is $106,376 to $115,730 plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years.
