Key Focus Areas
* Ensure all child safeguarding concerns are reported in line with mandatory reporting requirements and promote a child‐safe culture where children feel empowered to raise concerns.
* Assist with general grounds and maintenance tasks as directed by the Grounds Team Leader, ensuring alignment with the schools service standards.
* Support landscaping and irrigation works in accordance with the School's landscaping program and contribute to plant health, growth, and overall presentation of garden areas.
* Maintain lawns, garden beds, trees, and shrubs through mowing, fertilising, watering, pruning, and weeding. Ensure all grounds are kept neat, healthy, and well‐presented, including repairing bare areas where required.
* Maintain the grounds, workshop, and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition. Report faulty equipment promptly and adhere to maintenance specifications.
* Assist the grounds and maintenance team, as well as school staff, with projects and minor works as directed, ensuring tasks are safely set up and appropriately supervised.
* Complete all requirements of the Certificate II in Horticulture within designated timeframes and safely operate and maintain horticultural equipment following training and induction.
* Adhere to all Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, policies, and documentation requirements, ensuring legislative compliance in all tasks.
* Contribute to a positive, proactive, and collaborative team environment within the grounds and maintenance team.
* In consultation with the Maintenance Team Leader, assist in planning and carrying out routine and scheduled maintenance tasks.
* Support safe and efficient traffic management during student drop‐off and pick‐up times and assist with student crossing duties following appropriate training.
* Undertake additional duties as required, consistent with the skills and level of the role.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Strong reliability, demonstrated through consistent attendance, punctuality, and a dependable approach to work.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively.
* Competent computer and communication skills, including use of email and job ticketing systems.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment) and a recent National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
* A current Tasmanian driver's licence, with the ability to operate a manual vehicle, is desirable.
