This role balances both strategic safety leadership and practical on-the-ground involvement.Key ResponsibilitiesChampion Zero Harm Culture through coaching, mentoring and maintaining strong in-field presence.Lead and support incident investigations, injury management processes and effective risk control and uphold Zero Harm systems, ensuring accurate reporting, data quality and timely corrective actions.Conduct audits, inspections and field observations to drive compliance with Downer Standards and ISO requirements.Build strong relationships with operational teams and stakeholders to influence safety behaviours and continuous improvement.Contribute to Zero Harm strategic initiatives, innovation, tender support and ongoing professional development.About YouExposure in the Road or Civil Maintenance and Mechanical or Electrical sectors will be highly regarded as will the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships with both operational and management personnel to achieve best zero harm outcomes.Bachelor's degree in Work Health and Safety.Proven experience in a Safety role in the with a focus on infrastructure motorway/tunnel maintenance industries preferred.ICAM Lead Investigation Certificate (desirable).Quality/Safety Lead Internal Auditor (desirable).Demonstrate knowledge and ability to implement WHS policies, procedures and programs and ensure compliance.Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives in WHS, thorough the application of industry best practice, lessons learned and outcomes of incident in conducting WHS risk assessments, identifying potential hazards associated with business operations, and developing strategies to mitigate risk.Experience in developing, implementing, and managing OHS Management Systems (OHSMS) such as ISO 45001, including conducting audits, tracking performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement in OHS performance.Collaborative approach to building a safety culture that improves safety performance across the IR&M Services.Downer is a company that believes people are our greatest asset.
