Research Scientist - Chemistry
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team in the field of chemistry. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for conducting advanced organic and organometallic syntheses and using a wide range of analytical techniques to uncover the chemical design principles which control electronic delocalization in molecular wires.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting research in the areas of organometallic and organic chemistry, and molecular electronics
* Performing and supervising chemical syntheses, including using air-free techniques such as glovebox and Schlenk line
* Characterizing the products of synthesis and studying their properties
* Writing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebooks
* Successfully completing experiments and providing analyses of results in a timely fashion
* Contributing to the writing of scientific papers, reports, and research proposals and seeking collaboration with industry partners as appropriate
Requirements:
* PhD or equivalent in inorganic or organic chemistry, with specific expertise and experience in organometallic chemistry, air-free synthesis, and NMR spectroscopy
* Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
* Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision
* Previous experience in a research environment and in training PhD and Honours students
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships
