We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Strategy Manager to join our Network Strategy and Asset Management team. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint.

The Asset Strategy Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of asset management strategies across Essential Energy's network. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the long‑term capability, performance and resilience of our assets, ensuring they continue to meet regulatory, corporate and future energy system requirements.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies and industry groups, the Asset Strategy Manager drives innovation, continuous improvement and best‑practice asset management. The role also leads strategic analysis, asset risk assessments and development of major asset initiatives, ensuring strong decision‑making, value for money and alignment to Essential Energy's strategic objectives.

This position requires strong leadership, deep technical understanding of asset management principles, excellent analytical capability, and the ability to influence decisions at senior levels. A strong understanding of risk management, commercial analysis and emerging asset technologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of asset management strategies aligned with regulatory and business objectives.
* Monitor asset performance and prepare high‑quality insights, reports and trend analysis for senior management.
* Lead asset risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to optimise safety, reliability and value.
* Conduct strategic analysis and provide recommendations for asset initiatives, ensuring robust, value‑based decision‑making.
* Coordinate implementation of asset‑related projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and to required standards.
* Lead development of high‑quality asset data, modelling, research and insights to support strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
* Drive continuous improvement in asset management practices, including adoption of new technologies and industry best practice.
* Lead research into emerging technologies and industry trends to support long‑term strategic direction.
* Provide expert advice to operational teams on asset management matters, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
* Demonstrate behaviours that promote respect, equity, diversity and inclusion in line with Essential Energy's Code of Conduct.

About You

* Professional experience in a similar role within the electricity distribution or other asset‑intensive industry.
* Strong leadership experience with a track record in guiding strategic and delivery‑focused teams.
* Demonstrated experience developing strategic plans with strong commercial and risk management capability.
* Knowledge of Australian electricity regulatory and legislative environments.
* Experience implementing business strategy and driving process improvement, including automation and digital uplift.
* Advanced analytical, research and problem‑solving skills, including development of models and indices to support senior decision‑making.
* Strong understanding of customer and network behaviour, and asset management principles, standards and policies.
* Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences and influence senior stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Asset Management or demonstrated equivalent capability.

Desirable

Bachelor Degree in Business, Commerce or Economics.
