We seek to appoint a mission-aligned, governance professional with a strong knowledge of the aged care sector, in particular the aged care regulatory environment and experience supporting Boards and senior leaders as a Secretariat Advisor (Senior Governance)- Aged Care.
Reporting through the Secretariat Lead (Secretary to the Property Trusts), this role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with Aged Care related legislation, governance obligations and regulatory requirements across The Salvation Army as they pertain to residential aged care, independent living and residential villages, support at home, and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services.
This is a permanent, full time, appointment based out of either Blackburn, Melbourne or Redfern, Sydney however we will consider applications from other states also.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage Aged Care–related legislative, reporting and governance requirements for the Board and its Committees, under the direction of the Secretariat Lead (Secretary to the Property Trusts)
* Monitor, track and interpret changes in Aged Care legislation and regulation, and assess the implications for governance, reporting, responsible persons and service delivery
* Lead the review of Board and Committee terms of reference and meeting agendas to ensure ongoing compliance with Aged Care requirements including statutory filings and record keeping
* Develop, maintain and continuously improve a suite of governance documents relevant to Aged Care
* Establish plans for internal compliance reviews, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory obligations
* Manage Aged Care whistleblower protection matters in line with legislative and organisational requirements
About You:
* Tertiary qualification in Health, Aged Care Management, or a related discipline
* Demonstrated experience with Aged Care governance requirements and working with Boards and senior management
* Experience in a senior governance or assistant company secretary role
* Solid working knowledge of the Aged Care Act 2024 (Cth), current reform priorities and the broader Aged Care regulatory and risk environment
* Proven ability to influence, build relationships and engage effectively with senior leaders, regulators and external stakeholders
* High degree of integrity, discretion and attention to detail, combined with the ability to translate complex legislation into clear, practical advice
* Para-legal experience is highly regarded
