Newly created position of General Manager will play an prominent role for our client, working with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the business is operating efficiently and commercially.
They are responsible for establishing goals in consultation with Senior Leaders and achieving these targets in a manner that ensures the long-term development and sustainability of the business and its people.
The General Manager is responsible for overall performance. By using operational, financial and reporting levers the General Manager will achieve the strategic business plans through the current expansion and into the future.
**AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY**
Business Strategy
- Take the lead in defining, reviewing and refining the direction of the studio as a whole by preparing business plans with both long
- & short-term goals.
- Plans must include both operational and financial targets.
- Detail how these plans will be executed, including the review of current and projected resources.
- Measure the successful execution of long
- & short-term plans against defined goals and targets.
- Lead decisions regarding capacity, project types and commercial risks.
- Drive problem solving of operational requirements to enable strategic execution.
- Take responsibility for the financial performance of Studio, creating increased profitability year-on-year.
**Operations**
- Become the face of the company to a broad range of stakeholders, including consultants, collaborative partners and customers.
- Identify new business opportunities and ways to enlarge present scope of works.
- Identify and direct needed changes in project and company-wide resourcing to drive the execution of long
- & short-term plans.
- Create effective financial reports for communication to the Senior Leadership Team to measure success and as part of change management.
- Regularly review the success of business planning, considering short & long-term goals and profitability at project, sector and company levels.
- Provide organisational change management expertise by creating a supportive and responsive environment to encourage responsiveness & agility.
**Communication**
- Champion values and support the practice culture while reviewing & assessing the performance & collaboration of the various teams to deliver improved project and business outcomes.
- Create and use effective financial reports to measure the successful execution of strategic direction.
- Represent the firm through marketing and networking activities to identify further business opportunities.
**Risk Management**
- Identify and mitigate business risk affecting the Studio.
- Anticipate and understand changing business trends, and factors implicit in doing business within the local, and wider marketplace.
- Provide strategies to avoid and/ or resolve project overspend.
- Strive to continuously improve processes and procedure across the operational activities.
- Understand legislative obligations.
- Test the thinking on alternative strategies, resources and actions regularly and when potential business challenges are faced.
**IDEAL CANDIDATE**
Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Law, Accounting and/or Architecture.
Extensive experience at senior levels of management in a consulting-based environment.
A strong communicator with excellent collaborations skills who enjoys building positive relationships both internally and externally with a range of stakeholders.
Due to the seniority of this role, you must be result oriented with proven experience in developing operational plans, financial plans, business plans, and budgets.
