Electrical Design Engineer Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the Branch Manager in growing and mentoring junior staff.
The role involves conceptual and detailed design power system modelling, earthing and lightning protection, and commissioning support for LV and HV systems.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications include a degree or advanced diploma in Electrical Engineering with extensive work experience in industrial power systems, mining, renewables, or transferable skills from another industry.
Australian driver's license and full Australian work rights are also required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* SKM PTW or ETAP experience is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of AS3000, AS3008, AS2067, and AS1768 is essential.
* Extensive AutoCAD drafting experience is required.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills are necessary to convey electrical engineering outcomes to clients, stakeholders, and other disciplines.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are required to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Experience across various heavy industries is advantageous.
* The ability to complete detailed electrical design work, including schematics, SLDs, termination diagrams, specifications, scopes of work, is crucial.
* Knowledge of power systems and LV/MV design, including MCCs, Switchrooms, HV/LV Switchgear, earthing and lightning system modelling, and overhead line modelling is highly desirable.
* Understanding of instrumentation, PLC control systems, networks, and communications systems is also important.
* Functional safety and hazardous area experience, as well as exposure in mining environments, is advantageous.
* Demonstrated ability and genuine enthusiasm to motivate and mentor junior staff is essential.
