What's the role?
* Cover the biggest news stories in Australia and the world for a massive audience both on and off platform
* Produce engaging and informative live blogs with speed and accuracy
* Source, write, and produce compelling journalism that will be read by millions of Australians
* Ideate, script and present video storytelling packages, with the support of a team of producers and editors
* Collaborate effectively with editors, multimedia journalists and the broader newsroom
* Use social media to stay on top of topics that are trending and find ideas for stories
* Use analytics to inform story choices
* Some weekend shifts and work outside of usual hours
Who are you?
* Successful news reporter with at least five years experience in a busy digital newsroom
* Experience live blogging and covering rolling news stories quickly and accurately
* Passionate about breaking stories and finding exclusive angles on the topics dominating the national agenda
* Highly motivated and full of ideas
* Strong writing skills and an understanding of how to use headlines and pictures to hook readers. A desire to have your stories widely-read is a must
* Sound working legal knowledge
* Comfortable working independently and sourcing your own stories
* Understand SEO and analytics
