The Role
You'll have the unique opportunity to be part of the full project lifecycle—from tendering and securing work through to delivery and successful close-out—giving you end-to-end exposure and a real sense of ownership. As a newly formed team within the well-established Symal Group, we offer the energy and innovation of a start-up, backed by the strength and stability of a larger organisation.
Your Day To Day
* Develop and manage construction programs for rail projects, implementing proactive mitigation strategies to maintain critical timelines.
* Contribute to rail bid and tender submissions, ensuring compliance with ARTC standards.
* Coordinate and oversee rail-specific civil works—track formation, drainage, access roads, level crossings, and associated structures.
* Lead monthly cost reviews and provide accurate financial forecasting to monitor project health and performance.
* Champion and model safety-first behaviours, particularly in live rail environments and near operating corridors.
Who are you?
You're a qualified Civil or Rail Engineer with previous experience as a Site or Project Engineer—ready to take on complex, multidisciplinary rail projects. You'll bring:
* A strong grasp of Australian rail and civil construction specifications and standards.
* Experience across rail-enabling works including earthworks, drainage, signalling infrastructure interfaces, and access road construction.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with construction teams, clients, rail operators, and subcontractors.
* The ability to manage small-scale projects in regional areas.
