Overview
Data Business Analyst role at ASIC.
The Australian Government has announced the stabilisation of existing business registers and their transfer from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) back to ASIC, under the Registry Connect (RC) Program. This program aims to deliver reliable, secure, trusted, and efficient registry services to support the economy for the benefit of all Australians.
Responsibilities
- Apply ASIC's frameworks and ways of working to support team delivery of project outcomes.
- Partner with the Data BA Capability Lead to ensure team members are equipped to meet business objectives.
- Collaborate with ASIC Registry Business, IT stakeholders, and the AiDA to elicit and document business data requirements.
- Facilitate effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements clearly for data specialists including Data Modellers, Architects, and Engineers.
- Document data governance requirements and provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle, including Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
About You
The ideal candidate is highly analytical and collaborative, thrives in data-driven environments, and is passionate about enabling strategic decision-making through meaningful insights. This role requires a blend of business acumen, technical fluency, and stakeholder engagement skills to support the delivery of complex data initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to analyse business challenges, identify opportunities, and document clear, actionable business requirements.
- Demonstrated skills in developing user stories and acceptance criteria using DevOps.
- Significant experience in data analysis and profiling using structured query languages (SQL).
- Strong track record of building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Solid understanding of data management principles and technologies.
- Experience working within Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Position Details
- 36-Month Fixed Term Contract
- Sydney or Melbourne location
- Salary from $131,725 to $144,386 (depending on experience) + 15.4% superannuation
