Darebin Libraries has an exciting opportunity to join our Community Learning & Programs team and help develop and deliver our broad range of adult events and programming. Author talks, writing workshops, adult reader development initiatives and cultural events are just some of the activities the Reader Development Librarian will be responsible for programming.

**About the Role**
As the Reader Development Librarian this role has a focus on developing and delivering programming across Darebin Libraries with a focus on adult readers.
To achieve this, you will:
- Develop, plan, deliver and evaluate reader development programs for adults, including author talks, literature events and a range of community programs tailored to the needs and interests of the Darebin community.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of community engagement strategies and activities promoting reading and literature by developing a range of initiatives to engage readers.
- Develop effective collaborations with publishers, writers, community members and organisations and across Council to identify partnership opportunities to enhance sustainable program delivery.
- Supervise the Reader Development Officer to support the delivery and promotion of book clubs.
- Contribute to the financial management of the events and programs budget.
**Skills & Experience**
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- A degree qualification in a field approved by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or in a field relevant to the position requirements, with some relevant experience, or diploma level with extensive experience.
- Strong organisational, stakeholder management and communications skills.
- Knowledge of library collections and an understanding of how to engage adults with a range of interests and skills in reading.
- Experience in successfully planning, delivering and reporting on programming and events.
- A current Working with Children Card is essential.
