Selection Criteria
KSC1 Demonstrated high level knowledge of relevant policy context, evidence based approaches, programs and research relating to child and adolescent health and development.
KSC2 Demonstrated capacity to effectively implement and manage intervention strategies that address advanced and complex cases including critical incidents and those involving cross-profession or agency collaboration.

Role
Will be responsible for the development, coordination, maintenance, operation and monitoring of the student support structures and attendance within the school. The Student Wellbeing coordinator works closely with the Principal, Student Management Team, school nurse, SSSO¿s and other support staff and with teachers and staff who have welfare responsibilities. It is expected that individual variations of this role specification could emerge as the character and the needs of the school and the skills and interests of the SWC co-ordinator interact.
Responsibilities
Be A Resource to the Administration and Staff, Students & Parents
* Arrange meetings of relevant teachers, district personnel and external agencies to plan and implement strategies to resolve identified problems. Solutions may include the development of appropriate classroom management, educational programs based on individual student needs and the coordination of referrals to outside agencies.
* As a member of the leadership team I assist in policy review and implementation as it relates to student wellbeing.
* Coordinate overall approach to student wellbeing including liaising with Disability and Inclusion coordinator.
* 1:1 consultations with students and referrals to support services.
* Attendance at SIT meetings, when required.
* Convene and chair the Student Wellbeing Team (aka Health and Wellbeing Key Contact) meeting on a fortnightly basis with a view to case management of students at risk. ¿
* Providing teachers with information relevant and necessary to ensure the welfare and education of all students particularly those experiencing difficulties.
* Liaise with the Office Manager to monitor student attendance across the College using the `Compass¿ school management platform to identify students at risk of disengagement.
* Take responsibility for the implementation of whole school approaches and departmental wellbeing priorities.
* YAC-manage bookings and liaise with nurse, doctor and headspace.
* Scholarship Application, as required.
* Care team meetings-DFFH, ELMHS, Anglicare etc.
* Working with staff to develop positive school programs to foster the welfare of all students (for example, helping staff develop individual programs for particular students, health programs, self-esteem programs, peer support programs).
* Working as part of the transition team, consult with feeder school Principals to identify at-risk grade 6 students and provide appropriate additional support to assist their transition.
* Foodbank-Manage orders and deliveries to external organisations and families.
* Providing a liaison and communication link between the school and its community.
* Liaising with and supporting those members of the school community responsible for students with economic difficulties.
* Providing support to teachers involved in mandatory reporting matters.
* Assist with the implementation of priorities contained in the College Strategic Plan.
* Take a leadership role in the College¿s response to Government initiatives in relation to student health and welfare issues.
* Manage the wellbeing budget.
* Manage delivery of the Youth Assist Clinic and liaise with students and medical staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of service.
* Attend school camps and class activities where possible, to build key relationships with students.
In conjunction with other relevant staff providing support and assistance to:
* new students to the school;
* students preparing to leave school;
* students experiencing difficulties at school, at home or in the community;
* students living in out-of-homecare.
* Assist year level coordinators to generate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students as required.
* Providing counselling and guidance to students, who may be self-referred, and teacher or parent referred. Cases requiring therapeutic counselling or an intervention beyond expertise and resources of the SWC should be referred to the appropriate outside agency with prior agreement of student/or parent.
* Providing information on available resources and referral agencies.
* Act as an advocate for students, or ensure students have advocacy within the school or with outside agencies, e.g. The Children's Court.
* Coordinate and make referrals to wellbeing team members, School Nurse, Mental Health Practitioner, RRRR and health worker, and Koorie worker. Assist members in understanding the scope of their work
* Coordinate the Live 4 Life program implementation in the school. Attend meetings, crew days and assist Coordinators to schedule mental health first aid training.
* Attend SIT meetings.
* Work with Office Staff, Coordinators and DET to manage attendance and support complex cases.
* Manage wellbeing SOCS referrals
* Foodbank. Manage foodbank orders and meet with foodbank to ensure partnership continues.
* Liaise with DI team and assist them as required.
* Create and manage IRIS alerts.
Special Projects
* Other duties as specified by the principal that relate to student leadership matters.
* Consulting with and encouraging parents regarding their child¿s attendance at school.
* Providing information to parents on students¿ social progress.
* Advising and referring parents to support services, including government and community agencies and resources.
* Year 7 Orientation-attend primary schools with Coordinator and attach school camps where possible
* Junior and Senior meeting and others as required.
* Assist coordinators with the preparation of IEPs and support plans.

Location Profile
Foster Secondary College (Foster SC) is situated in Foster and is part of the Corner Inlet Community of South Gippsland. Dairy Farming and agriculture are key industries in the area, along with retail, health, construction and tourism. There is a vibrant cafe culture and we are lucky to have skilled artisans throughout the community. Foster is approximately 175km from the centre of Melbourne.
Our College motto is 'Nihil Sine Labore' which means nothing without hard work. In 2024 Foster SC had approximately 270 students ranging from Year Our Primary feeder Schools are Foster PS, Fish Creek PS, Toora PS and Welshpool PS. We employed around 40 staff, including teachers, teacher aides, education support, maintenance and office staff. The staff are very cohesive and united in the aim to develop a strong college community where every individual student is provided with a positive and encouraging environment in which to succeed.
Foster SC, through individualised career pathway counselling and skills education, aims to prepare students for a successful life after school. Our school celebrates student achievement but also student productivity. In 2024, Foster SC achieved the equal best VCE results for Government Schools in Gippsland. While we are a small school, we offer a broad range of VCE subjects to suit most students, and structure Year 10 as a Pre-VCE year in which we raise the level of expectation for students, preparing them for the processes and programs they will encounter in Year 11 & 12. We are the lead school of the South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance, a very successful VET program that dramatically broadens the career opportunities for current and future students. Foster SC has collaborated extensively with our area's Primary Schools to develop a highly regarded Transition Program from Grade 6 into Year 7 to ensure students are nurtured and prepared for secondary school.
