We are now looking for a Senior Quality Coach to own and elevate our quality standards. You will be instrumental in embedding a culture of quality across our teams, bringing deep experience in modern quality practices and a passion for coaching to uplift the capability of the entire team.
About the Role
As a Senior Quality Coach, you will be the champion for quality across the engineering team. Your primary focus will be on coaching and enabling our development teams to build quality into our products from the very beginning. This is not a traditional testing role focused on finding bugs at the end of the cycle; instead, you will empower teams by owning and improving AutoGrab's quality processes, working with them from requirements through to delivery and operations.
You will have the technical expertise to build and guide the implementation of automated tests, but your main function will be to coach teams on implementing the right tests at the right level, according to the testing pyramid. You will play a critical role in shaping AutoGrab's approach to quality as we continue to scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and evolve AutoGrab's quality assurance and testing strategy, ensuring it aligns with our agile development approach.
* Coach and mentor engineering teams in modern quality practices and automated testing techniques, guided by the principles of the testing pyramid.
* Partner with teams during product discovery and kick-offs to define quality strategies, acceptance criteria, and robust testing plans.
* Facilitate quality-focused events such as bug bashes, exploratory testing sessions, and planning meetings to ensure a shared understanding of quality.
* Upskill and educate engineers on the latest quality tools, processes, and technical practices to foster a culture of continuous learning.
* Analyse data from Post-Incident Reviews (PIRs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and production monitoring to identify trends and drive continuous improvement in our quality processes.
* Champion a "shift-left" mindset, embedding quality considerations and testing early in the development lifecycle.
* Develop and maintain lightweight frameworks and tooling for automated testing to accelerate teams, without becoming a bottleneck.
About You
* 5+ years of experience in a quality-focused role (e.g., QA Engineer, Test Engineer, Quality Coach).
* Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching teams to improve their quality practices and adopt a quality-first mindset.
* Strong hands-on experience with building and implementing automated testing frameworks for different layers of the stack (e.g., UI, API, integration).
* Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze data to identify root causes and drive process improvements.
* Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to articulate complex quality concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* A proactive, autonomous, and driven-by-ownership mindset, with a proven ability to champion change and influence engineering culture.
Preferred Skills
* Experience with performance, load, and security testing.
* Familiarity with our tech stack (e.g., React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, GCP).
* Experience defining, tracking, and reporting on key quality metrics (e.g., defect escape rate, change failure rate).
* Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, product-driven environment.
* A track record of mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and uplifting engineering teams.
