Townsville Yacht Club offers a range of quality services to our valued members and guests including functions, conferences, weddings, birthdays, wakes and sailing & boating events.
We trade 5 days a week from Wednesday to Sunday offering excellent facilities including a licensed restaurant, bar and function spaces.
An opportunity has become available for a passionate, hands-on Function Supervisor / Coordinator to join our Food and Beverage team to help deliver a superior functions and events experience at Townsville Yacht Club.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Restaurant Manager, Head Chef and Administration Coordinator to ensure seamless delivery of functions from start to finish.
Handle administration tasks, customer liaison face to face and by telephone, staff meetings and hands on delivery of functions and events as well as general bar and restaurant service.
Manage incoming enquiries and collaborate with the Food and Beverage team to create new events for members and guests.
Work varied roster from Tuesday to Saturday with flexibility to meet customer needs, supervise and run functions, and assist in bar and restaurant service.
Provide prompt, friendly, customer focused service to patrons.
Answer phone calls, take function queries and manage restaurant and function bookings.
Respond to enquiries in a timely manner and use sales and upselling skills to book great functions and events.
Plan, organise, set up, coordinate and supervise functions and events.
Assist the food and beverage team with restaurant and bar service.
Develop a working knowledge of all Club activities.
Perform various Club administration tasks and processing of cash and EFTPOS transactions.
Operate computer systems (POS and/or membership and booking systems).
Maintain a clean, tidy, hygienic and protected facility.
Qualifications
Experience in a hospitality environment serving customers and overseeing functions.
Agile and energetic personality that thrives in a customer-facing role.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for interacting with people.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Collaborative and team focused.
Current RSA Certificate.
Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Office products.

The Townsville Yacht Club (Townsville Motor Boat & Yacht Club Limited) has come to its present entity by a circuitous route.
The Club has its genesis in the 1950s in a now demolished shop beside the Metropole Hotel in Palmer Street as a dinghy and fixed keel sailing club.
Members' boats were moored on swing moorings in Ross Creek in front of the Metropole; the rails which served a careening ramp are still there.
In 1979 the Club amalgamated with six, water sport oriented, Clubs and moved to premises on the Strand.
In 1984 the new entity went into liquidation and the sailing fraternity were without a home.
