1. Senior Data Scientist
Key Responsibilities
* Utilising advanced statistical and machine learning methods to:
* Analyse complex datasets to deliver actionable insights that inform policy and operational decisions
* Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights
* Design, build, and deploy machine learning models
* Develop model monitoring methods to evaluate model performance and fine-tune algorithms for optimal results
* Provide recommendations for process improvements based on data findings
* Working closely with stakeholders to:
* Ensure data science projects are effectively integrated into larger government initiatives
* Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirement
* Provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders
* Identify opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration
* Conveying technical results and findings to:
* Clearly and effectively communicate technical results to non-technical audiences, such as senior executives, stakeholders, and community groups
* Use reports, presentations, and data visualisation tools to present findings
* Contributing to team efforts to:
* Represent the team in forums and meetings
* Share knowledge and expertise with team members
* Support team efforts as required
* Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment
* Introducing new analytical and data science methods to:
* Systematically embed new analytical and data science methods into compliance processes
* Build capability within the team
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and analytics
* Evaluate the effectiveness of new methods and refine as needed
* Identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships to:
* Develop and maintain relationships to deliver work outcomes
* Identify potential collaborators and establish partnerships
Key Capabilities
* Experience delivering professional data science solutions in an operational environment
* Experience in programming for AI and Machine Learning
* Experience with SQL, R/Python, and R Shiny programming
* Hands on experience with EDW and cloud environments, ideally GCP
* Excellent at managing diverse stakeholder relationships to advance and achieve business objectives
* Proficient in statistical analysis
* Capable of developing innovative data-driven solutions using advanced analytics methodologies
* Proven ability to set priorities, monitor progress and ensure the successful delivery of functions and programs
* Capable of meeting tight deadlines efficiently
* Ability to communicate data analysis to non-technical staff and managers
* Ability to promote data literacy through effective communication of data that is aligned with work processes
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
* Ideally, have knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule or the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
Essential criteria
1. Demonstrated experience with data analytical platforms such as R Shiny, SAS, Power BI, Qlik.
2. Demonstrated experience in programming for AI and Machine Learning.
3. Demonstrated experience with EDW and cloud environments, ideally GCP.
4. Demonstrated experience with SQL, and R or Python for programming.
5. Demonstrated experience delivering professional data science solutions in an operational environment.
6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within team and across various areas of an organisations, manage diverse stakeholder relationships, and communicate data analysis to non-technical stakeholders.
2.Senior Data Engineer
Key duties and responsibilities
Data Infrastructure Design & Maintenance:
* Experience in designing, building, and maintaining secure and high-performance data infrastructure to support data collection, management, transformation and access. Ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency of data platforms and storage solutions.
* Expertise in cloud-based data structures, storage solutions, and architecture, with experience in designing and implementing cost-efficient and secure data solutions.
* Understanding of data architecture principles to ensure data solutions are scalable and maintainable.
ETL Development & Optimisation:
* Expertise in developing, implementing, and optimising ETL pipelines to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading, enabling seamless data flow across systems.
* Experience in programming language SQL is also required for the ETL process.
Data Integration:
* Strong ability to integrate data from multiple sources and formats (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured) while ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability.
Data Transformation:
* Experience in designing and optimising data models and schemas to support analytical and operational use cases, ensuring efficient querying and data accessibility.
Performance Optimisation:
* Ability to troubleshoot, enhance, and fine-tune data workflows, storage solutions, and query performance to improve system efficiency.
Data Tools and Platforms:
* Sound knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in contemporary data engineering tools and technologies, including SQL, EDW and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
* Extensive hands-on experience with data analytical platforms (e.g., R Shiny, SAS, Power BI, Qlik) to support development of analytical models, dashboards and data visualisations.
Data Governance & Security:
* Comprehensive understanding of data governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and regulatory adherence.
Collaboration & Communication:
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts and business teams to develop and maintain reliable data solutions.
* The development of comprehensive documentation that follows in-house best practice will also be essential.
Essential criteria

6. Ability to optimise database performance, document data processes, and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
