The opportunity we have availableOrganised within the Chief Operating Officer Group within the department, Information Technology and Data Division's (ITDD) purpose is to connect people and technology, empowering the department to excel.ITDD is responsible for the consolidated provision and support of stable and secure IT Systems, applications and services to all department users across all States and Territories, including Indian Ocean Territories and Norfolk Island, as well as supporting seven Ministerial offices, and coordination with portfolio entities.ITDD provides the digital collaboration and communications tools necessary to connect a geographically dispersed workforce and to optimise hybrid working arrangements. We manage industry and public facing digital systems, deliver desktop services to over 2,400 staff, support over 30 office locations across Australia and oversee the department's cyber security capability.The Digital Delivery Branch (DDB) within ITDD partners with business areas and stakeholders to design, develop, implement, and support modern and innovative digital solutions, including Business Applications, ICT Technology Infrastructure uplift, and large building fit out projects.Our Digital Delivery Managers are part of ITDD's leadership team and play a crucial role in driving the delivery of projects for the department, ensuring alignment with the Department's IT Strategic Plan. They work with multidisciplinary teams, internal and external stakeholders, and the senior leadership team to ensure successful delivery and outcomes.As leaders in the division, our Delivery Managers also have a key role in shaping the strategic direction of ITDD and culture of our teams and are expected to contribute to developing high performing teams across the division.We are looking for motivated, innovative, and driven leaders to join our team as we progress a number of exciting IT modernisation activities that will transform the way we work and deliver IT services for the department.Experience in IT delivery is essential for the role. We are also looking for someone who is passionate about contemporary technology, delivery practices and ensuring that users are at the heart of the services we provide. In this role, you will be supported to enhance your delivery and leadership skills through learning and development opportunities and working alongside industry partners.Due to the nature of IT delivery these roles fluctuate in team size and subject matter, the successful candidate will need the ability to remain flexible and be adaptable to different delivery requirements based on what the departments priorities are at the time.

What will you do?You will be leading multidisciplinary teams to implement modern and innovative solutions that meet the needs of the department. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the Division and the broader department, often partnering with our business areas to implement complex solutions that support their specialised business needs.You will provide strategic delivery leadership across complex initiatives. You will advise executive governance forums with well-reasoned options that balance benefits, cost, risk, organisational readiness and achieve outcomes. You will model APS Values and strong stewardship through transparent governance, assurance and integrity-by-design, ensuring outcomes are delivered securely, responsibly and with the user at the centre.Key responsibilities:Play a key role as a leader within the Division, contributing to the strategic direction and influencing changeFocus on continuous improvement for the department's IT systems, procedures, practices and project delivery methodologiesBuild and maintain high performing teams, modelling APS values and demonstrating integrityProvide delivery and technical leadership and advice and mentor junior staffProvide strategic advice to executive governance forums, including delivery trade-offs and risk-based recommendationsTranslate complex technical issues into clear options and recommendations for executive decision-makers to achieve business outcomesAccountable for the successful delivery of IT project outcomes to support the needs of the department, and may include support of capabilities as business owner post project closureOversee delivery assurance, reporting and vendor performance to ensure on-time, on-budget outcomesManage demand and prioritise workloads across project delivery streamsSection planning including workforce and budget management

Eligibility requirementsEmployment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sports and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your Assessment: The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department's preferred medical provider.Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.Police check: The successful candidate must satisfactory complete an Australian Federal Police criminal history check.Integrity and Performance check: The successful candidate must satisfy the requirements in an Integrity and Performance check which is completed by your most recent employer.Minimum 3 years' experience as a senior leader responsible for delivering complex Digital and ICT projectsFormal project management qualifications will be highly regarded
