ACESGroup | Where People, Safety, and Technology Connect

As ACESGroup continues to expand its aviation security footprint, we are seeking an Aviation Lead – Trainer and Assessor to take ownership of our aviation training capability and play a critical role in shaping the next generation of aviation security professionals.

This is a newly established leadership role with genuine influence — ideal for an experienced aviation security professional ready to step into a senior training, standards, and compliance position with real impact.

About the Role

Reporting to the RTO Manager and working closely with Aviation Operations, Recruitment, and Compliance teams, the Aviation Lead – Trainer and Assessor is responsible for the end-to-end leadership, delivery, and continuous improvement of ACESGroup's aviation security training programs.

This role holds accountability for ensuring all aviation training aligns with Aviation Transport Security regulations, ACESGroup Transport Security Plans (TSPs), and ASQA Standards for RTOs, supporting the operational readiness and compliance of Aviation Protection Officers across passenger, baggage, and cargo screening environments.

Based primarily at our Redfern Training Centre, with delivery across airport and cargo environments, including Western Sydney Airport, this role blends strategic oversight with hands‐on leadership in live aviation settings.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery and assessment of Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20325) programs.
* Take ownership of Transport Security Protection (TSP) training, from induction through to operational readiness.
* Train, assess, mentor, and support Aviation Protection Officers (APOs) across passenger, baggage, and cargo screening functions.
* Ensure all aviation training delivery and assessment complies with the Aviation Transport Security regulations, ASQA standards, and RTO requirements.
* Deliver face‐to‐face, online, and hybrid training and assessment across aviation environments.
* Oversee learner progression, competency outcomes, assessment integrity, and training readiness.
* Maintain accurate and compliant training records, including learner progression and competency evidence within the Learning Management System (LMS).
* Conduct training needs analysis in collaboration with Aviation Operations and Learning & Development teams.
* Contribute to course development, validation, moderation, and continuous improvement activities.
* Support RTO compliance, audits, documentation, and regulatory engagement.
* Deliver training onsite at airports, cargo facilities, and ACESGroup training locations.
* Act as a subject‐matter expert and professional role model, embedding aviation security standards, culture, and professionalism.

Why This Role Stands Out

* Lead aviation security training at one of Australia's most significant new aviation projects, Western Sydney Airport.
* Play a key role in defining and embedding aviation training standards from day one.
* Step into a genuine leadership role within a growing, innovative RTO environment.
* Influence how aviation security training is delivered across passenger and freight operations.
* Join a company where your operational experience is valued and your voice genuinely matters.

What You'll Need

* TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain).
* Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20325)
* 3–5+ years' aviation security experience, with strong operational knowledge.
* Demonstrated experience training, coaching, and mentoring adult learners.
* Strong understanding of the aviation security regulatory framework, including aviation legislation, ASQA standards, and assessment integrity.
* Current or eligible Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Certificate II or III in Security Operations.
* Experience supporting RTO audits, validation, or compliance activities.
* Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
* Previous involvement in aviation training program development or standardisation.

What ACESGroup Offers

* A rare opportunity to help shape aviation security training from the ground up.
* On‐site training delivery in live aviation and cargo environments.
* A leadership role with real autonomy, accountability, and influence.
* A supportive, forward‐thinking culture focused on safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
* The chance to be part of Australian aviation history.
