Summer is upon us Blackman's Brewery is seeking an experienced casual Cook/Chef (Level 3, Grade 2) for the silly season. The Blackman's Ocean Grove kitchen is a high energy, busy and fun environment that pumps out epic, super tasty food to complement the beers we brew. Think the best burgers in town with a bites menu to match.
We are an independent, family run, and owned brewery on the Surf Coast and Geelong. We make our beers with the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on and we give our beers the right amount of time in tank, we don't rush them through to meet deadlines. Our core range is made up of beers that cover a variety of flavours and styles, we want to make good beer for everyone. We love amazing hospitality and is our main goal for every person who walks through our doors to have a whole lot of fun.
If you are passionate about quality food, then we'd love to hear from you. Flexible working roster, solid weekly hours, and fun working environment. This casual role is for around four weeks with immediate start to cover annual leave, approximately 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities of the role:
· Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
· Preparing and cooking food.
· Compliance with hygiene regulations.
· Freeze and preserve foods.
· Being punctual, in correct attire, and compliance with the general guidelines outlined by the management.
· Attend weekly team meetings.
· Ensuring venue is left secure if opening or securing premises at the end of a shift.
· Reporting incidents and consulting with other staff and Managers as required (minor/major incidents and accidents).
· Evaluate food products to assure that quality standards are consistently attained.
· Interact with Venue and Kitchen staff to assure that food production consistently exceeds the expectations of Brewery customers ensuring adherence to kitchen and food processes.
What we're looking for in our kitchen team:
* Someone who loves to cook and has enthusiasm to cook great food
* Sound knowledge of Food and Safety, HACCP standards. You must have a food safety certification issued by a registered training organisation.
* Ability to work in a high energy work environment and remain calm.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Possess initiative and a 'can do' attitude.
