About us

Meals on Wheels Tasmania began serving the community in 1955 and now operates 15 branch locations across the State, from Wynyard in the northwest to the Huon Valley in the south. Each year, our team of more than 50 dedicated staff and over 700 volunteers deliver approximately 300,000 meals to older Tasmanians and people with living with disabilities, helping them maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own homes.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Business Trainee to join our Finance Team. This full-time traineeship (1–2 years) supports you in completing a Certificate III in Business, while developing valuable skills in a professional and supportive environment. You will report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with the wider Corporate Services Team. Most of your practical experience will be gained in the finance area, where you will assist with administrative tasks, data entry, financial processes, and general office support.

As part of your traineeship, you will have:


• One dedicated online learning day per week to complete your Certificate III in Business.


• Access to in-person training courses throughout the traineeship.


• Opportunities to learn about different aspects of the organisation across our statewide operations.

This traineeship is designed to give you a strong foundation in business administration, finance, and corporate operations, setting you up for future career pathways within the sector.

About you

We are looking for someone who is eager to begin their professional journey and grow their skills in a supportive team. You will thrive in this role if you are reliable, organised, and excited to gain both practical and theoretical experience.

Selection Criteria

Essential

* Genuine interest in finance, administration, or business operations.
* Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
* Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop new skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

* Basic understanding of financial concepts (e.g., invoices, receipts, payments).
* Familiarity with general office equipment (printers, scanners, etc.).
