KCS Industrial Services Pty Ltd is an established and growing provider of industrial and construction support services across the Northern Territory. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a qualified and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Darwin-based team on a full-time basis.
This position plays an integral role in supporting the design, maintenance, optimisation and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and plant equipment across a range of industrial projects. The successful candidate will work across both office and site environments, contributing to project delivery, technical problem solving and operational efficiency.
Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the planning, analysis, design and performance evaluation of mechanical systems and components. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, supervisors, trades personnel and clients to ensure that engineering outcomes meet operational, safety and regulatory requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse industrial projects, providing hands-on involvement in mechanical installations, upgrades, troubleshooting and system improvements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Design, develop and assess mechanical systems, equipment and components to meet operational requirements
* Conduct site inspections, condition assessments and technical evaluations of plant and machinery
* Perform fault finding, root cause analysis and performance optimisation of mechanical systems
* Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, scopes of work and technical reports
* Assist in project planning, cost estimation and material selection
* Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities
* Liaise with contractors, technicians and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant project delivery
* Ensure all works comply with relevant Australian Standards, WHS legislation and company quality procedures
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing reliability, efficiency and cost effectiveness
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification
* Minimum two (2) years of relevant industry experience in industrial or mechanical engineering environments
* Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools
* Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes and maintenance practices
* Knowledge of Australian Standards and workplace safety requirements
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to work in site-based and industrial environments when required
Employment Conditions

* Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
* Superannuation paid in addition to base salary in accordance with statutory requirements
