Position Overview

Senior Registrar (Fellow) – Neonates

Neonatology cares for the sickest newborn babies, care of preterm infants and babies requiring specialist treatment in the first months of life. Successful applicants will manage inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients under the supervision of Neonatology Specialists across two sites: the Perinatal Centre – King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and the surgical centre – Perth Children's Hospital (PCH), plus the Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS WA).

Positions are shift‐based, including 24‐hour/7‐day coverage, and available as fixed‐term full‐time contracts for 12‐24 months (with the possibility of extensions) or part‐time on a case‐by‐case basis.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead clinical care of neonates in NICU and transport service under supervision of Neonatology Specialists.
* Manage day‐to‐day clinical operations, including delivery room resuscitation, ventilator management, continuous monitoring and nutritional support for preterm/critical patients.
* Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, audits, teaching and research activities.
* Provide leadership during emergency situations and inter‐facility transfers.

Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor or Master of Medicine with postgraduate specialization in paediatrics or neonatology.
* At least 6 months of recent experience as a Neonatal Registrar, Paediatric Registrar or Senior Registrar/Fellow in a tertiary neonatal centre.
* Demonstrable advanced competencies in neonatal airway management, ventilation and complex case management.
* Evidence of professional development, clinical teaching, audits or research experience.
* Ability to deliver family‐centred care and integrate cultural safety within the neonatal setting.
* Full National health worker registration and valid medical licence.

Additional Information

This position may be part of a wider recruitment pool remaining open until 31/12/2026. Conditions of service are governed by the WA Health System agreements. Successful candidates will undertake the required Work with Children assessments and ethical integrity checks.
