POSITION OVERVIEW

In collaboration with Senior Director and Director's Clinical Practice provide leadership and clinical support to develop quality practices and procedures within a multidisciplinary environment and provide operational and professional leadership of the school psychology service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

* Supports the Senior Director and Senior Executives to lead the strategic direction of the Engagement and Wellbeing Support Services Branch within the Directorate.
* Provides operational and professional governance, leadership and management of psychology service in ACT Education.
* Provides day to day professional support, leadership and direction to Senior Psychologists.
* Provides advice and guidance to the Directors and Senior Director Clinical Practice to enhance student psychological health, social and emotional functioning which leads to an increased participation at school and enhanced learning outcomes.
* Leads the development and implementation of policies, programs and processes which facilitates the development of competent and resilient children and young people.
* Negotiates and collaborates with government and non-government agencies, community organisations to address the needs of schools, students and families within an early intervention framework.
* Shares contemporary knowledge and expertise related to key issues and government policy/reforms and their impact on psychology and broader implications for the Education Directorate (EDU).
* Manages targeted projects on behalf of ACT Education which promote mental health and wellbeing.
* Works closely with EDU Legal Liaison to comply with legal requests relating to the production and provision of Psychology / Counselling records.
* Operates within the legislative and policy framework of ACT Education and ACT Government.
* Maintains registration requirements as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Adheres to the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and Ethical guidelines.
* Undertakes other duties as required by the Student Engagement Branch.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

* Current full general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
* Registration as a AHPRA Approved Supervisor
* Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration )

Desirable

* Current Driver's Licence
* Experience working with children, young people and families
* Recent experience in managing delivery of Psychology services at a senior level
* Extensive and advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in psychology
* Extensive human resource management experience

* Demonstrated high level experience and ability to lead and manage a contemporary evidence- informed psychology service within an early intervention and prevention framework.
* Demonstrated strategic and operational experience to lead, operate and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
* Demonstrated high level communication, liaison, negotiation and representation skills at agency and community levels.
* Understanding of ACT public service values and demonstrated professionalism, personal drive and integrity.
