**The team**

Our Engineering and Maintenance Branch manages a $1.5 billion annual maintenance program on behalf of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains - delivering a safe, reliable passenger fleet and metropolitan rail network, to meet growing customer demand and keep Sydney moving.

Engineering and System Integrity (ESI) keeps Sydney moving by providing design and engineering services to Sydney Trains and the Transport for NSW cluster. ESI are also the technical leaders responsible for ensuring system safety and integrity. The team works collaboratively with stakeholders to provide technical expertise and assurance, acting as Sydney Trains' interface with the Asset Management Branch (AMB) and hold Sydney Trains' Technically Authorised Organisation (TAO) accreditation.

**The opportunity**

This position manages a team of Documentation Engineers and Design Assistants to produce signal documentation on behalf of the Signalling Control System business unit, at the required standard, accuracy and quality to meet Sydney Trains technical, quality and agreed engineering team deliverables. This role is located in Clyde Hub.

Key accountabilities include:

- Ensure that staff in the team are competent and confident to perform their role and provide effective coaching and leadership to maintain high standards of staff performance, development and support succession planning.
- Manage the team of Documentation Engineers and Design Assistants in the production of required design drawings of varying complexity in a quality, timely and accurate manner, on behalf of the Signals business unit.
- Liaise with the Principal Engineers, Technical Specialists, Senior Engineers, Signal Field and Asset Engineers, and other relevant stakeholders (including Technically Assured Organisations - TAO) to establish a shared understanding of design scope, requirements, constraints, success indicators, quality environmental and safety standards necessary to satisfy client outcomes.
- Collaborate with Asset Management to develop the annual works program for Signalling Documentation updates
- Contribute to team success by following project plans and scheduled works for relevant signals engineering projects, to ensure they are completed in a financially responsible manner, to time, cost, quality and safety standards, as well as satisfying client and asset management requirements.

**About you**

You have demonstrated experience producing and checking engineering designs, comprising of specifications, technical drawings, and reports, within the engineering standards and services competency framework. Along with this you bring the ability to deliver presentations and assist with proposal preparation and the costing of documentation updating projects. Demonstrated experience in the use of engineering software, including an understanding of CAD is also critical to your success in this role.

It is essential you have a Certificate IV in Rail Signalling, or demonstrated equivalent discipline, experience in signals engineering within a comparable public or private sector organisation.

**Salary and benefits**

The salary for this position is **RC6 $134,750 - $149,415** per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
