The Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport (ALMT) Program is responsible for delivering aviation meteorological services, which provides the aviation industry with specialised meteorological services contributing to safe and efficient aviation operations within the Australian Flight Information Regions and the Asia-Pacific Region.
The service includes the provision of observations, forecasts, warnings and advisories, and is provided within the technical and regulatory framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
This position would suit an applicant with experience in project/program support and/or with a career objective to move into project management.
The successful applicant will be working in the Aviation Service Development (ASD) section and will work closely with the relevant Project/Program Managers across ALMT to ensure project/program outputs which are aligned with the Bureau Delivery Framework are delivered within time and budget constraints. The role is to provide quality control and support to all projects within specified programs of work, promoting enterprise standards, tools and templates, and will provide support to specified to Aviation Service Development Managers. The position will also provide program support to the ALMT program.

They will be expected to work under limited supervision and deliver high quality results. The ability to be highly proactive and flexible is essential. The candidate will have well established teamwork skills and have a passion for working with people and a customer-centric approach. Importantly, the candidate will work effectively across a diverse range of skillsets including ICT experts, policy development, technical writing, procurement and communication function. To be successful and thrive in the role, the Program Support Officer must consistently meet set deadlines, sustain high quality outputs, marshal broad expertise towards common outcomes, and have a meticulous approach to project documentation and standards.
Strong project coordination experience is desired. Candidates will also ideally be familiar with the Prince 2/Managing Successful Programs framework or have experience working on projects and be able to prepare high quality written material including project plans and reports, and the production of portfolio data and reports.
