Tasmanian Oyster Company (TOC for short) is looking for Farmhands to join the team and have flexibility to work at both our Boomer Bay and Cambridge Farm Sites.
At our Boomer Bay & Cambridge Farms, you'll play a critical role in our production by looking after our oysters and helping them to thrive and preparing them for Harvest!
About you:
* You don’t need any experience, but you do need to be willing to get in and have a go
* You need to love the water! Part of our day is spent out on boats, and getting in the water to look after our oysters.
* You need to be OK with being wet in cold weather. Because we’re always outside, we get to enjoy warm, sunny days, but work continues even when we get wild, wet and cold days.
* You must have full time work rights in Australia and be ready to undertake a full medical including drug and alcohol screening.
* Drivers Licence (Essential)
* Forklift Licence (Desirable - not essential)
* Coxswains (Desirable - not essential)
* Previous Hands-On Aquaculture Experience (Desirable - Not essential)
About the Role:
In the first 1-3 months, you will
* Complete the TOC onboarding process, including our safety induction, get to know your work mates and their roles within our business
* Learn our company vision and values and what drives our successes
* Get in and have a go – learn the tasks and ask lots of questions.
* Shadow our team leaders and experienced farmhands to get a basic understanding of your work
* Check in with our HR and Safety team to ensure you have everything you need to succeed
In 3-6 months, you will,
* Demonstrate an understanding of the tasks at hand, our systems and procedures
* Work cooperatively with others and use your initiative to find tasks to do
* Attend further training or have the opportunity to be signed up to Certificate III in Aquaculture
* Understand our values and consciously work to them
