The Opportunity
Based in Canberra, this Senior Business Analyst role sits within our IT Portfolio Management Office (IT PMO). You’ll play a pivotal role in connecting strategic intent with practical delivery, helping business areas shape proposals, define outcomes, and navigate investment and governance processes. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in complex environments and can bridge the gap between business strategy and ICT delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into strategic work packages
- Using data and modelling techniques to define opportunities and guide decision-making
- Supporting proposal development through strategic input and outcome definition
- Facilitating prioritisation discussions and aligning initiatives to organisational goals
- Working across assurance, risk, procurement, and technical teams to support delivery
- Driving service improvement and capability uplift across ICT functions
- Representing the organisation in forums and maintaining trusted stakeholder relationships
- Contributing to readiness activities and broader transformation initiatives
Required Skills
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in program, project, or portfolio environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
- Proven ability to guide strategic analysis and investment pipeline progression
- Experience translating between business and technical perspectives
- Demonstrated capability in process improvement and capability uplift
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Personal integrity and ability to deliver within legislative and policy frameworks
Desirable Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in ICT, business analysis, or related discipline
- Certification aligned with BABOK or IIBA membership
- Familiarity with Commonwealth ICT frameworks
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools
