Due to upcoming structural changes and a broader reform agenda, the business is seeking a technically strong and experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll delivery, compliance, and uplift within its Brisbane-based corporate team.
About the Role
Reporting into senior corporate leadership, the Payroll Manager will own end-to-end payroll operations across ~1,300 employees, spanning multiple Enterprise Agreements, rosters, and pay cycles.
You'll oversee a small but experienced payroll team, drive improvements in system functionality and process integrity, and play an influential role in a major payroll technology upgrade commencing in the new year.
This is a hands-on role suited to a candidate who thrives in complexity, takes ownership, and can step confidently into a change agent position.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee all payroll operations across corporate and site-based employees,
* Manage and mentor a small payroll team, embedding accountability and structure,
* Ensure compliance with multiple enterprise agreements, awards, and legislation,
* Engage in system transformation, vendor selection, testing and implementation,
* Identify and reduce manual inputs through automation and process redesign,
* Collaborate across Finance, HR and operations to ensure accurate and timely outcomes,
* Provide input into audit, risk, and governance reviews relevant to payroll,
* Represent payroll in strategic projects and senior stakeholder forums.
About You
* Proven experience in payroll leadership across multi-site or industrial operations,
* Strong knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards, and legislative compliance,
* Technically strong with deep hands-on capability across payroll systems,
* Confident leading a diverse team and engaging across senior finance and HR stakeholders,
* Exposure to payroll system upgrades or RFP processes is highly desirable,
* Sector experience in mining, construction, energy or agriculture will be highly regarded.

Generous health and medical cover including $5K Medibank subsidy and $10K Medical Plus cover. Flexible work: 1–2 WFH days depending on pay cycle requirements. Brisbane Corporate Office position with occasional site visits as required.
