About this role:
The Head of Web Development is responsible for leading and managing a global team of web developers to manage and develop eCommerce projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to lead web development scoping, planning, and technical architecture for all projects involving web development.
* Provide leadership to Australian and Global team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training and development.
* Manage a development team as well as third-party developers to ensure the technical quality, product quality, and efficient use of resources.
* Owning and implementing global standards for Development and QA processes for all projects and tasks.
* Establishing and maintaining foundational code libraries to boost team efficiency and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.
Your responsibilities also include taking a hands-on development approach to create new pages and features across the whole stack, with a specific focus on the presentation layer. You will stay up to date on best practices and ensure that team members are following them as well.
In addition, you will identify, evaluate, and implement new technology that is beneficial to the organization's goals.
You will participate in regional and global leadership meetings to discuss direction, strategy, and priority of internal initiatives – share your insights regarding your areas of expertise and advocate for initiatives that will benefit both your team and the entire agency at large.
Required Skills
- 6+ years of eCommerce web development experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing a development team and technology vendors.
- 3+ years experience using CMS platforms such as Magento, Big Commerce, Shopify & Neto
- Experience building and managing nearshore, offshore, and onsite development teams, simultaneously.
- Strong, current knowledge of modern web application development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, REST, and React for front-end and back-end applications.
Bonus Points
- Strong knowledge of Git, CDNs, and development operations within an agile sprint system.
- Reasonable knowledge of server-side development, including PHP and database development.
