Finance Manager (7/8) - Parramatta
Hourly Rate: $70.55 + Super
Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract (Possibility to Extend)
A State Government Organisation is seeking a skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join their dynamic team located in Parramatta. As a Finance Manager (Clerk 7/8), you will play a pivotal role in providing analytical, accounting, and financial system support, assisting in the coordination of financial functions to meet business objectives. Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for delivering critical financial management services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies while driving financial performance. You will support the command/business unit in managing budgets, financial reporting, and analysis, and provide strategic financial advice to commanders and managers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and monitor financial and accounting systems, ensuring compliance with the Public Finance and Audit Act and other relevant legislation.
2. Balance annual recurrent budgets, cash flows, and year-end projections.
3. Prepare and consolidate monthly financial analysis, including performance reporting, activity-based costing, cost/benefit analysis, and benchmarking.
4. Provide expert financial advice to commanders and managers on matters affecting business planning and financial performance.
5. Develop internal controls and conduct financial audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
6. Manage transactional financial systems, ensuring accurate monthly reporting, including accruals, journals, and performance summaries.
7. Consolidate future budget variation requests, capital works, and revenue estimates, supporting the budgeting process.
Key Challenges:
1. Build and maintain strong working relationships with commanders, managers, and key stakeholders to ensure effective financial management and collaboration.
2. Deliver prompt, consistent, and accurate financial processing services, offering expert advice while keeping abreast of emerging trends, policies, and legislative changes.
3. Ensure the timely delivery of corporate financial services, adhering to service level agreements and organisational deadlines.
Essential Criteria:
1. Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and reporting, ideally within a government or large organisational setting.
2. Strong knowledge of relevant financial legislation, policies, and procedures, including experience with the Public Finance and Audit Act.
3. Ability to provide strategic financial advice and make evidence-based recommendations for business planning and decision-making.
4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with senior management and stakeholders.
5. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders across the organisation.

2. Hourly rate: $70.55 + Super.
