Azoogi is seeking a full-time qualified Mechatronics Engineer with experience in LED lighting solutions, who is passionate about LED lighting innovation and enjoys engaging with customers on technical solutions. This unique role combines hands-on R&D and product development with technical sales support, allowing you to influence both what we build and how we deliver to the market.
Role
This hybrid role includes responsibilities across R&D, product engineering and technical sales.
R&D & Product Development
* Design and develop new LED luminaires, light engines, drivers, optics, and control systems
* Perform mechanical design, electronics integration, thermal analysis, and photometric evaluation
* Prototype, assemble, and test products to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance
* Evaluate new technologies, components, and materials for product improvement
* Collaborate with manufacturing and QA teams to bring concepts through to production
* Troubleshoot failures and improve existing products for efficiency and longevity
* Produce engineering drawings, BOMs, testing documentation, and compliance paperwork
* Prepare documentation to support Australian/NZ compliance (e.g. RCM, AS/NZS 60598, AS/NZS 61347 or similar).
* Work with suppliers to ensure LED lighting products (LED strips, downlights, panels, neon, profiles and drivers meet Australian electrical and safety requirements.
Technical Sales & Customer Support
* Provide technical expertise to support sales conversations with electricians, engineers, architects, and distributors
* Help customers choose the right product or customise solutions based on project requirements
* Interpret drawings, specifications, and lighting plans to recommend suitable LED solutions
* Prepare technical proposals, performance data, and product comparisons
* Participate in client meetings, site visits, and presentations when needed
* Support pre-configured control solutions (e.g. Casambi, DALI, DMX) for hotel, commercial and residential projects.
* Work with the sales team to translate customer feedback into product improvements and R&D priorities
About you
* Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Minimum 3 years of experience in LED lighting, electronics or lighting/product development.
* Strong mechanical design skills (SolidWorks or similar)
* Understanding of LED drivers, PCBs, sensors, microcontrollers, and thermal management
* Hands-on experience with at least one lighting control ecosystem (e.g. DALI, Casambi, DMX, Bluetooth Mesh, or
* similar).
* Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients
* A practical mindset with the ability to take ideas from concept → prototype → testing → production
* Experience in a customer-facing or internal technical support role (supporting sales, projects or applications).
* Excellent written and spoken English, with confidence in writing technical emails and documentation.
Skills
* Experience with DALI DT6/DT8, Casambi (including Casambi Pro), DMX systems, Bluetooth Mesh, or PWM dimming.
* Lighting design experience (Dialux, Relux) for internal or external lighting projects.
* Sales or applications engineering experience within lighting, electrical or other technical products.
* Programming skills for embedded systems or automation (C/C++/Python)
* Familiarity with extrusion, CNC, plastics and electronics manufacturing processes.
