Where you'll be working
The Occupational Therapy department at Prince of Wales Hospital employs up to 40 therapists across acute, rehabilitation and outpatient caseloads. We have therapists specialised across all caseloads working together to support each other working with complex patients to deliver patient centred care.
The Occupational Therapy department supports clinicians through:

This position is in our new Community Assessment Unit (CAU). The Community Assessment Unit (CAU) provides short term, multidisciplinary, acute care for patients who do not require, or no longer require treatment in the Emergency Department (ED). The unit is designed to reduce length of stay in the ED and inpatient wards by commencing rapid assessment, faster diagnostics and earlier treatment for the undifferentiated, complex, chronic and non-critical medical patients. Patients can be referred direct to the CAU from ED/triage, clinics, consultant rooms, Nurse Practitioners and General Practitioners. Patients' length of stay in the CAU is on average 48 hours.

* Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and Current Registration with AHPRA.
* Demonstrated core competency skills relevant to the facility and the occupational therapy service.
* Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience.
* Computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems.
* Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
* Current Class C Drivers Licence.
