"Noosa Shire – different by nature" The Opportunity A new opportunity exists to drive river sustainability across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast. The Resilient Rivers SEQ Catchment Coordinator – Noosa & Sunshine Coast (the position) will support the delivery of Catchment Action Plans (CAPs) across both shires and manage key projects funded through the Council of Mayors Resilient Rivers Initiative.
The position will be embedded in the Noosa Council organisation but will work as required across both the Noosa and Sunshine Coast Council's and be accountable to the RRI Project Management Office for delivery of key project milestones and reporting.
The position will be responsible for contributing to the establishment of the RRI Projects and CAPs in Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and will be supported by relevant Council staff and the RRI Project Management Office.
The project team is seeking experienced and motivated applicants for this role with demonstrated experience to enable the delivery of key responsibilities.
The position is a unique opportunity to contribute to the legacy of the natural areas of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.
Vacancy Details Position Status: Temporary Full-Time (until 30 June 2028) Department: Strategy and Environment Branch: Environmental Services Advertised: Internal and External Position Remuneration: Level 6.1 ($98,037.26 base annual salary) / ($111,279.83 total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading) Closing Date: 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday, 25 May 2025 About You To undertake this position, you will have demonstrated specialist knowledge and experience in catchment management, hydrology or geomorphology, including the ability to assess environmental risk.
You will have high-level knowledge of legislation and how it relates to natural resource management within the region including the Planning Act 2016, Vegetation Management and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2013, Nature Conservation Act 1992 and the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999.
Further, the successful incumbent will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to determine and adapt management approaches for a broad range of catchment management solutions.
The position's focus will be: Support the development of multiple Catchment Action Plans in both the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Local Government Areas (LGAs) and manage delivery through the development of project plans, technical reports and community and stakeholder engagement plans. Prepare project briefs and reports for Council and Resilient Rivers Southeast Queensland, including project options, designs, progress reports, finances, monitoring and performance. Monitor and manage multiple small and large projects across both LGAs including outcomes, stakeholders and budgets in an efficient manner and within budget, reporting to Council and stakeholders regularly. Ensure projects are designed and implemented to achieve the goals of the Resilient Rivers Southeast Queensland and relevant Council corporate and operational plans. Ensure projects are undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, regulation, policies, plans, procedures and other requirements as appropriate. Liaise, engage, consult and negotiate with Government agencies, businesses, NGOs, traditional owner groups, community members and landholders to achieve project goals. Design, lead and facilitate stakeholder field days, knowledge sharing sessions and workshops to partner with, empower and educate stakeholders. Prepare specifications and tenders for projects, and procure designers, consultants and contractors using Council's procurement processes to deliver projects. Assess and review the standards and work of designers, consultants and contractors. Maintain accountability and appropriate use of information systems and maintain vigilance to comply with record keeping requirements.
