Selection Criteria Key Selection Criteria: KSC1 Demonstrated experience in Paediatric Speech Pathology services including experience in assessment, development and evaluation of communication programs for students with disabilities in an educational setting including assessment, development and evaluation of language and communication to students with disabilities aged 5 to 18 years. Experience with AAC and mealtime assistance required. KSC2 The ability to follow established school timelines and priorities in consultation with school leadership. KSC3 The ability to participate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and develop collaborative working relationships KSC4 Well developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with and advise other professionals in providing services to students with an intellectual disability. KSC6 - Demonstrate broader management responsibility and leadership capacity to provide professional support and supervision to other team members, manage budgets and collaboration with leadership to implement whole school strategies. Role Services provided by the Speech Pathologist may include (but are not limited to): In consultation with the Leadership Team, develop, deliver and evaluate speech pathology services for students with communication difficulties and disabilities. Provide reports to assist with applications for funding or the re-appraisal process for the Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP). Work within the classroom to support teaching staff in implementing Speech Pathology recommendations and programs. Assist with and participate in development of policies, strategies, processes and procedures for the effective delivery of Speech Pathology services for students at Yarra Ranges SDS, considering approaches that will support students access to the curriculum on a whole school/ tier 1 level, small group and individual level. Provide consultation, programming ideas and strategies to teachers Case management, particularly in the areas of AAC and effective communication for students with ASD. Provide collaborative support to assist with students developing functional communication skills across all settings. Mealtime assessment and support to ensure student safety and skills building during school mealtimes. Develop and maintain links with community resources and facilitate school community networks. Develop and implement professional development programs for staff in the areas within speech pathology scope of practice. Maintain appropriate records and provide written and oral reports in line with school policies and procedures. Provide supervision and feedback to range 3 speech pathologists related to caseload, professional development, whole school communication implementation strategies and provide feedback regarding performance. Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position will be: Effective assessment and reporting of student achievement and effective planning of student programs with Support Staff and teachers. Implement therapeutic programs using a wide range of group and individual strategies and skills. Provide support to students¿ families or carers through direct and indirect means. To establish and maintain professional networks. To attend a variety of meetings e.g. staff, departmental, team. Lead the communication school improvement team and work collaboratively with leadership to promote and facilitate the whole school approach to communication. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Principal on the administration and implementation of the whole school approach to communication. Manage the speech pathology budget and oversee speech pathology resources and equitable distribution of these across the school. Who May Apply Suitable for a speech pathologist who has had clinical experience within a school, with AAC, mealtime support and students with complex communication needs. This clinician would need to be willing to co-run the school wide communication team. Additionally, Our Early Education Program supports pre-school children aged between 2 years eight months and 4 years 8 months with developmental delay in two or more areas. Students must meet the state-wide eligibility criteria to attend YRSDS and are enrolled in accordance with the school's documented enrolment policy. Furthermore, all students at YRSDS are entitled to a Disability Inclusion Profile, which will outline the specific level of adjustments needed for each student to effectively access the curriculum. YRSDS is a purpose-built facility staffed by specialists dedicated to meeting the unique needs of our students. The school is organised into four sections: Early Education, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and Secondary, each overseen by a member of the leadership team. This team includes a School Principal, two Assistant Principals, and several specialised staff members, such as a Leading Teacher, two Learning Specialists, an Inclusion Outreach Coach, a School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Team Leader, a Therapy Team Leader, and an Education Support Leader.
