Responsibilities: As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations. Key responsibilities include:
* Oversee compliance with AML/CTF requirements under applicable legislation and rules.
* Take day-to-day ownership of the AML/CTF program, including initial and ongoing risk assessments.
* Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on compliance status, highlighting any issues or non-compliance.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of AML/CTF policies, procedures, and frameworks.
* Ensure appropriate KYC processes are in place and consistently followed by staff.
* Deliver and maintain staff training on AML/CTF obligations, updating content as regulations evolve.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, including managing reports, supporting audits, and liaising on compliance matters.
* Address feedback from regulators to strengthen the AML/CTF program and manage potential risks effectively.
What you'll need to succeed:
* Experience in an AML/CTF role (experience with policies, regulatory requirements, exposure to the AML reforms) within a law firm, financial institution or professional services organisation is desirable.
* Being a qualified lawyer is preferred but not essential.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Demonstrated research skills and familiarity with online research tools.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This role is part of the management team and will be office-based full time (Melbourne), five days a week.
