Halfday Deli

Opus Coffee Brewers' new shop, Halfday Deli. We're a micro bakery, sando shop by day, pizza and wine by night. This role can be structured as Venue Manager or a Sommelier & Venue Manager depending on the right person.

You'll be leading Halfday 5 nights a week Tuesday - Saturday. Guaranteed Sundays & Mondays off.

The Sommelier Role

As a small, hands-on venue, the role is broader than a traditional sommelier position and includes assisting in some venue management and stock control.

* Wine ordering, stocktaking, inventory control and cellar organisation
* Managing supplier relationships and maintaining accurate stock levels
* In control of wine list development and updates
* Assisting with menu editing and printing (wine and food menus)
* Providing warm, confident wine service on the floor
* Supporting opening and closing procedures and general venue operations

The Venue Manager skills

Authentic staff leadership confidence & experience in a high volume venue with positive leadership culture in every facet. You lead by example.

Time management – You use forethought in everyday life, you will be responsible for delegating tasks / jobs to the appropriate team members to perform.

Creativity - Drink specials development, you'll be working with our head barista and head chef to create beverages utilising current ingredients from the seasonal menu.

Excellent communication skills – You've got fantastic communication skills, both orally and written - great with an email and you value communication with your peers.

Active listening and learning – Understanding what people need, asking questions for insight into problems and gathering information for a solution are essential when coordinating a team - We expect this from anyone leading.

Teaching abilities – You will be expected to train current staff, along with new additions in doing things the correct way, we want influence, fun, routine and creativity

Analysis and evaluation – Improvement, teaching, development - finding the most efficient way to get tasks done gets you excited You are passionate about this.

Wage targets and scheduling - You'll need to keep to wage cost targets. Experience with our rostering software Deputy is a bonus. Utilising insights and projections on sales and rostering accordingly.

YOU MUST HOLD:

Current Driver's license

Ability to work without restriction in Australia

RSA

Sommelier must also hold CMS & WSET qualifications
