Job Description
The Role
St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland is seeking a passionate AOD Statewide Counsellor to help transform the lives of individuals on their recovery journey. In this pivotal role, you will deliver high quality, evidence based counselling services to participants in our residential rehabilitation programs across the state.
In this Online statewide role, you will:
* Provide telephone and online individual and group counselling aligned with the SVdP AOD Model of Service
* Conduct assessments, review risk factors, and escalate concerns when needed
* Collaborate with on site teams to streamline intake, referrals, and follow up
* Work with the State Clinical Lead on workshops, practice standards, and care planning tools
* Maintain accurate, confidential client records and progress notes
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case reviews
* Ensure culturally competent, person centred practice
* Prepare monthly service and client data reports
Your work will align with the Society’s policies, the AOD Model of Service, the current Funding Agreement, and key standards including HSQS, the National Quality Framework, and THROF.

This is a Permanent, Full- time position (38 hours per week) based in Underwood.

Desired Skills and Experience
About You
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling and eligibility for professional association membership.
* Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in similar programs.
* Understanding of AOD and dual diagnosis treatment principles and experience in AOD interventions.
* Knowledge of the AOD treatment sector, mental health sector, and community support services.
* Understanding of harm minimisation and recovery-oriented models.
* Strong knowledge of addiction, recovery processes, and evidence-based modalities.
* Excellent communication skill, telephone manner, proven clinical expertise in rapport building in a telehealth setting
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client care.
